About FindAdjuncts, FindAdjuncts was founded in 2012 by the mother-daughter Duo Eden and Ellie Pearson. Both women had first-hand experience with how troublesome the adjunct hiring process could be and wanted to improve upon it.

From the college’s perspective, the adjunct turnover rate was constant. Full-time professors are pulled from their duties as instructors to staff part-time help. Eden Pearson worked as an English professor at the college level for over 30 years, where she also staffed composition courses in community colleges. Rather than focusing on her duties, she searched for more than 45 adjuncts per semester. This process was time-consuming, and she began to think there must be a better way.

In 2020, Ellie Pearson graduated with her master’s in communication. She was looking for an adjunct professor position but found the process time-consuming and frustrating from the applicant’s side. Because Eden and Ellie already worked in this space, it was natural to transition into this work.

Their experiences in the industry have made them uniquely qualified to identify the needs of both adjuncts and colleges. For example, many applicants meet the adjunct requirements. Still, they need help finding the right University and position. The difficulties faced by both parties create the perfect conditions for FindAdjuncts.
